Skate & Give Back

Do good deeds, win rad prizes

Tram Line Spot is a unique community space in central Nottingham that was designed and funded by skateboarders to provide a safe, creative and fun place for everyone. But Nottingham is facing a lot of economic and social challenges at the moment. To help ensure TLS remains a safe space for everyone in the future, we're really stoked to launch Skate & Give Back, to encourage and reward young people at TLS who are doing good deeds and taking care of the spot and each other.

The rules are simple: If you are aged 11-18, film yourself doing a good deed at Tram Line Spot and the wider Sussex Street area. Then post it to Instagram tagging @tramlinespot & #tramlinespotfamily and explain what you did and why you did it in the caption. On 15th October we'll announce 5 prize-winners. Up for grabs are a £100 voucher for Forty Two skate shop, £50 voucher for Art of Football, £50 gift card for White Rose, £50 voucher for Make It Easy Lab, and 5 x £10 vouchers for Blend Coffee Shop.

These are the sort of things you could do:

  • Pick up and bin litter

  • Sweep up

  • Clean tags from the corten steel skateable forms, ledges, floor, or exhibition wall

  • Pick litter up from the wider Sussex Street area and the steps up to the Nottingham Contemporary and entrance to City of Caves

  • Help out and support GrowNotts and their rad work to look after the pop-up allotment next to the spot

  • Help out a new skater

  • Be a good role model

It's really important that you stay safe - please don't handle broken glass or any sharp, unsanitary or hazardous rubbish. You can report any hazardous waste or anti-social behaviour via the Nottingham City Council website here. If you're worried about the wellbeing of someone sleeping rough at the spot, call Framework on: 0800 066 5356. If anything at the space is making you feel unsafe, call Nottingham Police on 101. If you feel like you or someone else is in immediate danger call 999.

Thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund and DCMS for funding this summer's programme of activities at TLS as part of the Million Hours campaign.
